Matthew Christensen

specializes in original high quality musical composition and sound design for creative iOS games and web application projects. Drawing on 20 years industry experience as a celebrated musical performer and educator, Matthew combines his deep musical knowledge and passion for live performance/recording with  interactive technologies – creating a level of musical quality rarely heard within that medium. To date Matthew has crafted a diverse portfolio of musical compositions for clients such as Playground Theory, Toblerone, Paddle Pop, Lloyds TSB, Cadbury, EmilyIndustries, ChunkGames, Esper Labs and SiuYiu Ltd. Matthew also enjoys an exciting performing career as a freelance Saxophonist, backing world-class artists such as Kenny Rogers, Randy Newman, Human Nature, Ben Lee, Michael Feinstein, Rhonda Burchmore, Tom Burlinson, Kristen Chenoweth, Idina Menzel and Australian Jazz Legend James Morrison amongst many others. In addition Matthew has performed with the Australian productions of The Producers (2005), Dirty Dancing (2006), Dusty (2006), Chicago (2008), Avenue Q (2010), Fame (2010), Annie (2012), A Chorus Line (2012), Legally Blonde (2013) Hot Shoe Shuffle (2013) and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (2013).

After graduating with a Bachelor of Music from the Queensland University of Technology majoring in classical and jazz saxophone, Matthew completed his Post Graduate Diploma of Education at the University of Queensland and then completed a Masters of Music Studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.  In 2013 Matthew joined the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries and is Currently lecturing in Sound Design, Composition & Audio Integration for Games at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University. Matthew currently resides in Brisbane, Australia where he passionately supports Queensland’s eclectic jazz scene. He features as a regular soloist for well known bands, Enthusiastic Musicians’ Orchestra and The Enterprise.
